On August 15, 1955, “Vulkan – state foundry and marine mechanical workshop” changed its name to “Crane factory and foundry VULKAN” Rijeka.

At that time factory Vulkan was an important part of the economy of Rijeka when the city had a strong industry, shipbuilding industry and port. Vulkan has demonstrated its power by exhibiting at many fairs where it has often received recognition for its products.

During 1955, due to the repair of generator, Vulkan’s steel factory  was two months out of production, and due to frequent power cuts certain machines were not working. This led to hundreds of tons less processed steel than it was planned. That is why the production plan for 1956 contained larger production, new products (such as hydraulic crane of 300 tons) and co-operation with some companies such as Iron factory in Zenica,  Factory „Metalna“ in Maribor, and the implementation of the signed contract with the Shipyard “3. Maj” for the production of coastal cranes.

In 1962 production of castings of gray cast iron has completely stopped. In 1963, a service workshop was established as part of the sales department and in 1965 the production of steel castings for ship engines was started (cylinder heads, piston heads, piston, upper parts of piston…).

Two of the Vulkan’s products that stood out from others based on its size and weight were made in 1978: pliers housing 9300 kg net weight for RMK Zenica and turbine housing 8860 kg net weight for Jugoturbina.
